Description
The Human Resources Director creates systems and a culture that will enable Janus to be an employer of choice in Santa Cruz County. This role manages the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department and develops, administers, and evaluates personnel policies and procedures. The HR director also serves as an effective champion for the culture and values that are key to the organization: empathy, teamwork, trust, respect, mutual support, hard work, compassion, and appreciation. This position is a Key Leadership Team member, responsible for developing an effective and motivated workforce that enables JANUS to achieve its strategic and programmatic goals.
Key Qualifications and Responsibilities
- Align HR plans and strategies with organizational goals.
- Provide leadership on HR matters, ensuring clarity in staff roles and decision-making processes.
- Develop metrics to monitor progress toward goals (e.g., staff retention, recruitment, satisfaction, performance evaluations).
- Oversee the HR team, coaching and mentoring staff to enhance their effectiveness.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to solve complex problems and achieve objectives.
- Ensure compliance with California Employment Law regarding personnel management.
- Serve as a key business partner, aligning workforce strategies with business operations.
Culture Leader
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for Janus' mission and understand recruitment needs based on clinical philosophy and patient populations.
- Commit to high performance standards and adherence to policies.
- Apply understanding, compassion, and appreciation to support and encourage staff.
- Recognize staff achievements and build teamwork throughout the year.
- Lead the annual competency review process for all staff.
Recruitment and Hiring
- Lead the recruiting team to retain a highly effective workforce, including strategies for recruiting medical providers, behavioral health providers, and SUD counselors.
- Ensure a comprehensive onboarding process for new hires.
- Conduct yearly salary studies to maintain competitive hiring within healthcare in Santa Cruz County.
- Collaborate with the executive team and board to increase revenues for wage competitiveness.
Benefits Administration
- Lead annual benefits evaluation and make recommendations to the executive team.
- Oversee the Open Enrollment process and ensure HR Managers conduct Benefits Orientations.
- Address Return to Work (ADA) and Worker's Compensation matters.
Employee Retention & Development
- Lead employee development, evaluation, and retention processes to ensure staff success.
- Assist in skill development for managers, supervisors, and directors to support staff retention and training.
- Plan quarterly meetings to evaluate staff development and training needs.

Pay & Benefits
At Janus, base salary is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $110,000 and $120,000 annually and your base pay will be considered on your job-related skills, training, qualifications, experience, and relevant education.

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources or related field
- At least 7-10 years of prior Human Resources experience
- Excellent communication skills: ability to work with staff of all backgrounds; good listener
- Strong writing skills and ability to write clear agency policies, correspondence, and other materials
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
- Strong California Employment Law compliance
- Experience working with healthcare entity and understanding of healthcare compliance
