Position Summary

This position oversees and enhances the recruitment, management, and development of the club sports program. This includes collaborating with admissions, marketing, and coaches to attract and retain prospective student-athletes, managing recruitment data, and supporting the university's overall growth of club sports.

This is a full-time, twelve-month position.

  • Collaborate with undergraduate and international admissions to engage prospective students interested in club sports.
  • Partner with Communications, Marketing, and Admissions to recruit and promote club sport athletes.
  • Represent the club sports program at Admitted Student Days, Open Houses, and virtual recruitment events.
  • Provide outreach to build relationships with high school coaches, athletic administrators, and other programs to strengthen recruitment efforts, particularly for men's rugby, football, and other field sports.
  • Assist in managing the SHU Club Sports website to ensure it is up-to-date and informative.
  • Oversee the recruitment database for club sport athletes, including managing recruitment surveys.
  • Work directly with coaches to develop recruitment strategies and manage communication for club sports teams.
  • Support the creation of new club sports teams by researching their needs and preparing resources.
  • Contribute to the research and evaluation of programs and staff by collecting data and generating reports.
  • Aid in retention efforts by working with coaches and utilizing PioConnect to engage with at-risk students.
  • Utilize DoSportsEasy as a primary tool for managing team rosters.
  • Oversee the scheduling of field and court space for club sports teams.
  • Manage budgets for the department, facilities, and club sports teams, including fundraising events, expenses, and dues collection.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations management of all club sports.
  • Attend home and away games, as well as playoff games and competitions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes

  • Master's Degree required
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in Recreation or Collegiate athletics
  • Extensive knowledge of club sports operations and logistics
  • In-depth knowledge of all sports, especially contact sports (i.e., rugby, football, etc.)
  • Experience working with website design
  • Excellent communication skills, both through public speaking and social media
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments, coaches, officials, and staff members to meet the needs of the club sports program.

Unusual Working Conditions

Expectation and willingness to work evenings and weekends. May work extended hours as needed.
