Pest Control Technician

The DSH -Napa, General Services Department is accepting applications for a full time, permanent Pest Control Technician. Applicants should have knowledge of: Structural Pest Control Act and Structural Pest Control Board Regulations; laws and regulations governing use of pesticides; rodents; noxious pests, such as spiders, ants, and cockroaches; pests attacking humans, such as bedbugs, fleas, lice, mites, ticks, flies, and mosquitoes; fabric pests, such as silverfish, firebrats, carpet beetles and clothes moths; cereal and miscellaneous pests; and general pests.

Well qualified applicants should possess the ability to: inspect all areas of buildings and grounds to determine the presence of vertebrate and invertebrate pests; eliminates such pests through the use of such equipment, chemicals and procedures as may be necessary; may make minor repairs or order repairs made to prevent or control infestation by pests; orders and maintains equipment and supplies; trains personnel in methods of preventing pest infestation; cooperates with public health personnel in their inspections and takes steps necessary to comply with their recommendations; maintains records of inspections, infestations and remedial actions taken; establishes and maintains a continuing program of preventive pest control. Willingness to work in an institutional setting.

Possession of a Field Representative, Branch 2, license (General Pest) issued by the State of California Department of Consumer Affairs, Structural Pest Control Board. (Candidates who have applied for and are in the process of securing a license will be admitted to the examination but must possess the license before appointment. Good attendance, punctuality, and attitude are important characteristics.

A Duty Statement is attached and is also available in the General Services Office.

    Founded in 1875, Napa State Hospital is the only state hospital in Northern California for persons struggling with severe mental illness.
