Summary:
MacArthur Place is seeking an experienced Banquet Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of banquet operations, ensuring seamless execution of weddings, corporate meetings, conferences, and social events. This leadership role requires exceptional organization, staff management, and client coordination to deliver outstanding service that aligns with the hotel's high standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Oversee the planning, setup, execution, and breakdown of all banquet events, ensuring flawless presentation and guest satisfaction. Ensure that banquet spaces meet event specifications, including seating, décor, AV setup, and food & beverage presentation. Maintaining high service standards, cleanliness, and compliance with brand expectations is a priority, along with professionally addressing and resolving guest concerns.
- Staff Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor banquet staff, including servers, bartenders, and captains. Conduct performance evaluations at 30, 60, and 90 days, as well as annual reviews. Lead pre-event meetings to communicate event details and service expectations, ensuring all team members adhere to company policies regarding attendance, breaks, uniforms, and conduct. Additionally, manage scheduling and payroll for the banquet team to ensure efficient operations.
- Financial & Inventory Management: Responsible for controlling labor, food & beverage costs, and inventory to maximize profitability. Develop strategies to drive banquet revenue while minimizing waste. Collaborate with the sales, catering, and accounting teams to ensure accurate event billing. Conduct regular inventory checks and maintain proper stock levels of linens, glassware, utensils, and beverages.
- Event Coordination & Client Relations: Work closely with the sales, catering, and culinary teams to execute events with precision and creativity. Communicate with clients before and during events to ensure expectations are met and serve as the on-site banquet lead to oversee smooth execution. Build strong client relationships is key to encouraging repeat business. Additionally, support other food & beverage outlets based on event schedules and during periods of low event activity.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all banquet operations comply with health and safety regulations. Monitor cleanliness, sanitation, and the proper handling of food & beverage items to uphold hotel and industry standards.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education & Experience: A bachelor's degree in hospitality management or a related field, though equivalent experience will be considered. A minimum of 3–5 years of banquet or event management experience, preferably in a luxury hotel or upscale catering environment a plus. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with expertise in event planning, food & beverage service, and banquet setup. Required certifications in food safety and alcohol service must be maintained.
- Skills & Competencies: The ideal candidate will have prior leadership experience in hospitality and possess excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities. Financial acumen, including budgeting and cost and inventory control, is important. Proficiency in banquet software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office is also required.
- Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Stand and walk for extended periods and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. A flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, is required. The role involves working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions, requiring adaptability to changing demands in a dynamic hospitality environment.
