About the Role:

The Vice President of Development is a senior leadership role that plays a critical part in designing, implementing, and leading BGCO's comprehensive fundraising, donor engagement, and communications strategies. This leader will be instrumental in meeting and exceeding the organization's annual and long-term revenue goals while raising awareness and strengthening both community and donor relationships. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the senior leadership team, the VP of Development will manage a small, high-impact team that focuses on individual giving, institutional fundraising, marketing, events, and communications. This position is vital to fostering a culture of philanthropy within the organization and enhancing BGCO's financial sustainability and public perception.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in fundraising with a track record of success in major gifts, institutional giving, and strategic planning.
  • Strong existing relationships within Northern California are beneficial, particularly those in Oakland.
  • Proven experience securing multiple grants and donations ranging from $250,000 to $1,000,000 annually.
  • A background in a nonprofit setting, especially involving youth or education-focused causes, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and manage a team while actively contributing as a team member.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative working style with senior leadership, board members, and community partners.
  • Proficiency with donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, MyClubHub, OneCause, Blackbaud, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor's degree required; an advanced degree or CFRE certification is a plus.

Pay range and compensation package:

Salary: $110,000-$140,000 Annually BOE & Qualifications
