This is an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, high-growth environment with a lot of challenging design work. We are looking for a Sr. Controls Engineer to support our team in building state-of-the-art X-ray microscopes used by some of the most prominent scientists in the world.

This is a full-time on-site role at Sigray, Inc. The engineer will be responsible for tasks such as electrical design, troubleshooting, writing drivers, and identifying electrical components for the laboratory x-ray systems.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Bash scripting to automate processes, improve system efficiency, and develop scripts for data configuration, testing, and acquisition
  • Troubleshooting problems with controls and electrical components to ensure proper functionality and reliability
  • Troubleshooting motors, encoders, cameras, detectors, and various sensors (optical, pressure, temperature, etc.)
  • Mentoring team members on troubleshooting techniques and best practices
  • Synthesize and develop documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Maintain and update documentation to reflect system changes and improvements
  • Design and develop electrical control systems, such as the PDUs and interlocks
  • Implement and refine motion control systems to ensure precision and reliability in equipment operation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with complex mechanical assemblies
  • Supervise and provide guidance to electrical and controls engineers
  • Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of electrical and control systems, ensuring compliance with company standards and timelines
  • Work closely with mechanical engineers and physicists to develop complex prototypes and innovative solutions
  • Identify opportunities for system enhancements and implement improvements to optimize performance and efficiency
Qualifications
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics
  • Familiarity with complex mechanical assemblies
  • Experience with motion control systems
  • Preferred experience with semiconductor systems
