Woodside Hospitality Group (www.woodsidehospitalitygroup.com), the leading collection of independent hotels, restaurants and spas in Northern California, is seeing a Line Cook to join our team at the Harvest Inn (www.harvestinn.com).

The Harvest Inn is an idyllic resort designed to celebrate the vineyard way of life, with 78 luxurious accommodations nestled into four uniquely crafted neighborhoods, two secluded swimming pools, and a plush spa with indoor and outdoor facilities. Surrounded by lush landscaping of expansive clipped lawns, Harvest Inn has serene shaded groves, partially forested by towering redwoods. Harvest Inn is home to gardens of agricultural botanicals that produce many of the ingredients on the menus of our on-property restaurant, Harvest Table.

We are seeking a Line Cook to join our culinary team.

The Line Cook position requires an individual that can prepare food to the exact chef's specifications and to set up stations for menu. Line Cook duties will consist of assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs with their daily tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and company goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare and cooks food items according to the Hotel's high standards of quality.
  • Set-up, restock and maintain food preparation areas, while adhering to recipes including specific knife cuts and correct cooking procedures.
  • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)
  • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
  • Cooks meals according to individual tickets according to specifications.
  • Follow all safety, hygiene and cleanliness protocols at all times.
  • Displays knowledge and follows all procedures in sanitation and sanitary food handling.
  • Answer, report and follow executive or sous chef's instructions
  • Clean up station and take care of leftover food
  • Stock inventory appropriately
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
  • Must be able to work early mornings
  • Keeps work area clean and organized using soap and sanitizing agents.
  • Maintains proper food temperature, out of the danger zone of 40 to 150 degrees.
  • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the Hotel.

Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established by the Hotel from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with the Hotel rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of the Hotel facilities.

  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Familiar with industry's best practices.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Meets legal age requirements for the position

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. High school diploma is preferred. Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook. Formal culinary training or degree in culinary arts preferred. One-year prior culinary experience is preferred. Serve-save certification is preferred.

PAY SCALE

The pay scale for this position is between $23.00 and $24.00 per hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual wage rates will be based on a number of factors, such as experience, type of hotel experience and education.
