The Director of Corporate Quality and Sanitation at Calbee America is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing company-wide food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation programs across all Calbee America facilities. This role will drive the development and execution of quality strategies while ensuring world-class sanitation standards and regulatory compliance. As the leader of both the Corporate QA and Sanitation teams, the Director will champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence that supports Calbee's commitment to product safety, innovation, and consumer trust.

Base pay range

$155,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

This role will drive the development and execution of quality strategies while ensuring world-class sanitation standards and regulatory compliance. As the leader of both the Corporate QA and Sanitation teams, the Director will champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence that supports Calbee's commitment to product safety, innovation, and consumer trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Quality & Food Safety Leadership
  • Lead the development and implementation of food safety, quality assurance, and sanitation strategies across all plants.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing team of quality and sanitation professionals, promoting ownership, training, and growth.
  • Foster cross-functional alignment with Operations, R&D, EHS, SCM and HR to ensure consistent execution of quality and sanitation standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate food safety and quality programs, including HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, allergen management, and consumer complaint resolution.
  • Track and analyze Pest Control program for all plants.
  • Sanitation Oversight & Program Management
  • Oversee master sanitation programs and SSOPs across all manufacturing locations, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain cleaning and sanitation protocols that reduce contamination risks and align with industry best practices.
  • Partner with production to coordinate and schedule sanitation activities across shifts with minimal operational disruption.
  • Manage sanitation chemical usage, PPE distribution, training, and supplier relationships.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Audits
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable FDA, SQF, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements across all Calbee sites.
  • Prepare for and lead internal, third-party, and regulatory audits related to food safety, sanitation, and quality systems.
  • Maintain robust documentation and record-keeping for sanitation, quality testing, inspections, and corrective actions.
  • Vendor & Consumer Quality Support
  • Collaborate with suppliers and co-manufacturers to ensure adherence to Calbee's product specifications and sanitation expectations.
  • Track and analyze consumer complaints and quality trends to drive root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
  • Develop scenario-based crisis management training to strengthen Calbee's quality incident response preparedness.
  • Testing, Specifications & Documentation
  • Oversee company testing protocols, retain programs, and finished goods evaluations to verify compliance and product consistency.
  • Develop and manage quality documentation, specifications, labeling reviews, and packaging compliance systems.
  • Support graphic and packaging development through optimized routing and regulatory validation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in food science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related field required.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance roles in food manufacturing, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong technical expertise in HACCP, FSMA, GMPs, allergen control, environmental monitoring, and sanitation programs.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage compliance in a multi-site environment.
  • Experience with audit procedures, regulatory compliance, and consumer complaint resolution.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills including CAPA development.
