BSG is currently seeking to hire a Flex Security Officer with open availability for a variety of sites in Marin and Sonoma County, including college campuses, homeless shelters, bus depots, wineries, and commercial buildings. This is a full-time role focused on high visibility, deterrence, patrols, building checks, community engagement, perimeter and access control. Officers will help guests and employees feel secure and welcomed daily.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas, including multi-level buildings and outdoor spaces, standing or walking for extended periods.
• Conduct perimeter and access control; perform building checks; engage with community members as needed.
• Respond to emergencies or incidents promptly; communicate effectively and de-escalate when possible.
• Operate security equipment (radios, keys, locks) and maintain accurate reports and logs.
• Assist with evacuations or other emergency responses as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old; eligible to work in the United States.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; current California Guard Card License.
• Valid Driver's License with clean driving record for applicable sites; reliable transportation.
• Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage; able to communicate in English (reading, writing, speaking); additional languages a plus.
• Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion when interacting with community members in distress.
• Ability to remain calm in crises, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and follow policies and procedures.
• One year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff is preferred; ability to work independently.
• Willingness to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Physical ability to perform duties described in the job; ability to stand/walk for long periods, climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate security equipment.

• Climb stairs; lift and carry up to 50 pounds; endure various weather conditions during outdoor patrols.
• Manual dexterity to operate radios, keys, and locks; sprint short distances if needed during emergencies.
• Kneel, bend, and crouch to check low-level areas; maintain good vision and hearing for monitoring alarms and surroundings.

Employment Details

• Shift: 7-day availability required; morning, swing, or grave shifts with 24-hour notice; weekend availability required.
• Hourly Rate: $28.00 per hour.
