Under general direction performs professional finance, budgeting, and accounting duties related to the administration and analysis of the Citys payroll; advises Finance Management of legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll procedures; and performs related duties as assigned. This is a journey level class within the professional Payroll Analyst series. This single-position classification is responsible for performing complex payroll analysis duties including interpretation and implementation of accounting policies and procedures and tax and year-end reporting. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of payroll. The single position in this class is flexibly staffed and is normally filled by advancement from the entry level class.
