Safety Construction Manager

Location: Martinez, CA (Permanent, Onsite)
Travel: 50% (Southern California and out-of-state)

Pay: Starting $100k/yr. with flexibility

We are seeking a skilled Safety Construction Manager for a permanent, full-time role based in Martinez, CA. This position involves significant travel (approximately 50%) to project sites in Southern California and out-of-state locations. We are looking for a proactive safety leader with strong construction experience.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (including OSHA 1926 for construction).
  • Conduct job site audits and inspections for structural and light gauge steel projects to identify hazards and ensure safe practices.
  • Lead safety training programs (e.g., fall protection, steel erection, hot work, confined space) for field crews and shop personnel.
  • Maintain all safety documentation, including incident reports, training logs, and inspection records.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare detailed reports, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to ensure safety is integrated into project planning and execution.
  • Maintain and manage site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Pre-Task Planning documentation.
  • Monitor and enforce PPE requirements, fall protection systems, equipment certifications, and other site safety controls.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new safety regulations, and best practices in steel construction safety.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, and company leadership regarding safety performance and compliance.
  • Support the company's goal of achieving zero incidents and maintaining a culture of safety-first across all operations.
Qualifications

Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of safety management experience in the construction industry, with at least 2 years in structural and/or light gauge steel projects.
  • Strong knowledge of steel erection safety standards, including Subpart R of OSHA.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish
