Overview

Senior Counsel for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics will join an inclusive and service?oriented team of attorneys and legal professionals and report to the Assistant General Counsel, Transactions. This is a broad, often complex and interesting practice with opportunities for personal and professional growth. This role works directly with executives and associates at all levels of the business, supporting multiple Business Units (Clinical Chemistry, Automation, Hematology, Urinalysis), Operations and enabling functions. The position is on-site in Chaska, Minnesota or Brea, California. We will consider a remote option for highly-qualified candidates.

Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is part of Danaher and works alongside six fellow Diagnostics Companies to improve patient lives with diagnostic tools addressing global health challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the strategic business partner for the Senior Counsels clients to support business objectives and advise on risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide practical, solution?oriented approaches to a broad range of legal issues and risks, then structure, write and negotiate agreements addressing those issues and risks
  • In partnership with specialist attorneys and other professionals, advise on regulatory, compliance, privacy, and litigation matters
  • Supervise legal professionals and other associates on standard agreements
  • Using Danaher Business System (DBS) concepts, identify, design and implement continuous process improvement initiatives to improve client service levels or streamline the departments template agreements
Qualifications
Essential requirements
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and 6+ years of business law experience in the medical device or life sciences industry, in a law firm and/or corporate legal department
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one US jurisdiction
  • Up to 15% travel to company sites as required
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with healthcare regulation (fraud and abuse, FDA for medical devices, data use and privacy such as HIPAA/GDPR, anti-corruption such as FCPA)
  • Experience with software transactions
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $160,000-$190,000 annually. This range is the good faith range of possible compensation at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The role is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay. Benefits include a comprehensive package with paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, and 401(k) for eligible employees. Note: compensation components (bonus, benefits) are discretionary and subject to change.
