Job Summary
The Human Resources (HR) Consultant provides best practice consultation to business unit management, corporate leadership teams, and employees through the use of effective performance management, talent development, employee engagement strategy, employee relations processes, succession planning tools, compliance guidance, and effective management practices.

Primary Objectives

  • Support HR initiatives focused on improving business results through increased productivity, employee retention, and engagement of the workforce within assigned business units.
  • Provide consultation to managers on HR matters including issue analysis, development of options, and implementation of effective solutions.
  • Provide effective education, communication, implementation, guidance, and training for assigned HR programs within assigned business units.
  • Ensure fair and consistent administration of all human resources policies and practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate consistent, compliant, well-documented, and effective performance management, development planning, corrective action, and termination processes.
  • Drive open issues to resolution through effective monitoring, escalation, and resource utilization; ensure that problems are addressed with appropriate urgency.
  • Advise and guide managers on disciplinary issues including misconduct, policy or practice violations, corrective actions, and termination. Review performance improvement plans and written warnings.
  • Identify and leverage opportunities to enhance employee and manager engagement and promote a values-driven culture of performance.
  • Create, maintain, review, audit, and securely store employee data records. Ensure proper handling of confidential data and documentation.
  • Drive fair and consistent administration of all HR policies and practices, including Employee Relations, EEO/AA, Diversity, and Compensation strategies and practices.
  • Evaluate and coordinate investigations and responses to employee complaints.
  • Assist with education, communication, implementation, and training for related programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of coursework and experience in Human Resources or directly-related field required
Licenses and Certifications
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SPHR-CP), or equivalent certification preferred
Work Experience
  • 3+ years' in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner position required
  • Experience with collectively-bargained employees preferred
  • Experience in a complex multi-employer/entity environment preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent general knowledge of HR functional areas, including the concepts and practices relating to employee relations and engagement, training and development, compliance and documentation, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of appropriate practices and privacy requirements relating to the handling, storage and transmission of confidential employee and organization data and records.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills to convey information effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local employment regulations.
  • Ability to identify complex problems, use logic and reasoning to review related information, develop and evaluate options, reach conclusions, and implement solutions.
  • Strong client management and business literacy skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to develop effective professional relationships.
  • Ability to manage and communicate expectations, negotiate, and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficiency with HRIS including workflows, audits, and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products at the following levels: ? Word, Outlook: Intermediate level of skill ? Excel, PowerPoint: Basic level of skill
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.
  • Familiarity with transportation/logistics industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with UKG/UltiPro preferred.

20% Must be able to travel independently to U.S. locations including Hawaii.

Starting pay will be determined by job-related factors including experience, education, and business needs and may be modified at any time.

Zone 1: $95,000 - $115,000
