Orthodontic Dental Assistant

Summary: The Dental Assistant provides direct support to the provider by preparing treatment areas, assisting with procedures, and ensuring a sterile and organized environment. The role also involves patient interaction, charting, and adherence to infection control standards to deliver quality orthodontic care.

Pay Range: $19.04-$24.76/hour (Based on experience)

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:

Clinical Assistance & Patient Care:
  • Assist the dentist in all chairside procedures.
  • Take X-rays and process diagnostic images.
  • Provide pre- and post-treatment instructions to patients.
  • Ensure patients feel comfortable and understand their procedures.
  • Maintain accurate treatment notes and charting.
  • Prepare and sanitize treatment areas, instruments, and equipment.
  • Support sterilization protocols and infection control guidelines.
Procedural Assistance:
  • Take impressions for study models and appliances.
  • Prepare dental materials for fillings, crowns, and bridges.
  • Provide suctioning and isolation during procedures.
  • Assist with placing and removing temporary restorations.
  • Handle instrument sterilization and inventory management.
Administrative & Compliance Duties:
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols.
  • Track and manage inventory and supply restocking.
  • Assist the front office as needed with scheduling and patient inquiries.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:
  • Prior dental assisting experience preferred but not required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
Required Certificates or Licenses:
  • X-Ray certification
  • BLS certification
  • 8-hour Infection Control certification
  • 2-hour Dental Practice Act certification
