The Auditor-Controllers Office is inviting applications for a motivated Accountant-Auditor I/II to join its team and help promote accountability and transparency in County government. This position offers opportunities to develop and apply accounting and auditing expertise in a dynamic local government setting.
As part of the Internal Audit function, incumbents perform audits and reviews of County departments, programs, federal and state grants, and external agencies to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and accounting standards. The role involves collaborating with staff across multiple departments to gather information, analyze processes, and assess compliance. Typical duties include analyzing financial data, preparing audit reports, monitoring grant and program expenditures, evaluating internal controls, and providing recommendations to strengthen accountability, efficiency, and transparency.
The Accountant-Auditor classification series is flexibly staffed, with advancement opportunities. The current recruitment is to fill one full-time vacancy in the Auditor-Controllers Office. The eligibility list established by this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra-help vacancies for up to one year.
Experience and Education: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical path to obtain these qualifications is described below.
License or Certificate: A position assigned to this class may require possession of a valid California Driver's License. All required licenses, certifications, registrations, or appointments must be maintained in good standing during employment with Napa County.
