Executive Functions, Inc., dba EF Specialists (EFS), is the most comprehensive executive function coaching company in California that is NPA certified to work with schools to develop programs specific to individual student needs while also offering private/individual support to families. Our mission is to guide middle and high school students in overcoming procrastination, disorganization, and anxiety by teaching time management, prioritization, and communication skills so they feel motivated, prepared, and empowered.

Our sessions are held remotely (typically via Zoom) in a 1:1 setting. We are a customer-centric and growing business, with an innovative and comprehensive five-step coaching process, uniquely tailored to each student.

JOB TITLE:

Executive Function Specialist (Part-time, Hourly, Remote)

SALARY RANGE:

Direct Service: $45 - $55 hr. Administrative: $30 - $40 hr.

REPORTS TO: Director of Client Services

JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Under general supervision, an Executive Function Specialist will perform direct client service; support students and families in developing skills and strategies to manage educational and vocational challenges; collaborate effectively with families using the family team meeting structure and process; engage in a continuous professional development cycle that includes receiving and applying feedback; effectively manage documentation of services and work; collaborate with other team members on the IEP process to facilitate successful outcomes for students

DIRECT SERVICE KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Approximately 75-90% of incumbents time worked shall include the Direct Service responsibilities below. Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.

  1. Provides direct service to students/clients through weekly or biweekly remote meetings in the following areas:
    1. Behavior Intervention - Design or Planning, Implementation
    2. Specially Designed Vocational Education and Career Development
    3. Executive Function Coaching may include the following responsibilities: reading, understanding and analyzing SPED documents (assessments, IEPs, etc.); identify a client's executive function and behavioral challenges and their underlying academic issues; create a plan of support, with goals and metrics, for student in areas of need; maintain clear and consistent communication with clients and families, including text messages, emails, phone calls and online video meetings; monitor baseline level of performance and progress; etc.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Approximately 10-25% of the incumbent's time worked shall include the duties below. Examples of these duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature.
  1. Attends team meetings and collaborates with other specialists and leadership team members
  2. Develop collegial relationships with outside professionals to promote partnerships with school officials and outside agencies
  3. Provides mentorship, coaching and support as needed to other specialists, including collaborative meetings, as needed and directed by supervisor.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Strong understanding and application of current research and findings in mild to moderate disabilities, emotional disabilities that may include emotional disturbance or mental health conditions, ADHD, executive functioning, gifted learning, special education including special education services, documentation procedures and assessment; and/or knowledge of behavior supports and intervention plans.

ABILITY TO:
  • Ability and desire to work as part of a professional interdisciplinary team
  • Work on evenings and weekends to be responsive to parent and student availability.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal and written communication skills that reflect sensitivity to their audience (parents, school staff, mental health professionals)

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to use computers, including video communication platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet
  • General knowledge of Google Suite (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to sit or for prolonged periods of time throughout the workday

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND TRAINING QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates must meet the minimum degree qualifications as detailed below, or the equivalent. Equivalency decisions are made based on a combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities.

Suggested Education: Master's degree in the field of Education, teaching credential, or the equivalent

Credential (one preferred):
  • A credential authorizing the holder to deliver special education instruction; or
  • Pupil Personnel Services Credential that authorizes school counseling or school psychology; or
  • license as a Marriage and Family Therapist certified by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, within the Department of Consumer Affairs; or
  • license as a Clinical Social Worker by the Board of Behavioral Sciences, within the Department of Consumer Affairs; or
  • license as an Educational Psychologist issued by a licensing agency within the Department of Consumer Affairs; or
  • license in psychology regulated by the Board of Psychology, within the Department of Consumer Affairs; or
  • master's degree issued by a regionally accredited post-secondary institution in education, psychology, counseling, behavior analysis, behavior science, human development, social work, rehabilitation, or in a related field.
Preferred Experience: A minimum of three years of teaching and/or coaching experience.

Required (can be completed upon hire, and instructions will be provided):
  • Submit a clear TB test
  • Pass a DOJ LiveScan and Background check
  • Course completed for the purposes of satisfying the training required by AB 1172 (annually)
  • Completion of required internal training as assigned by leadership
