The Department of Kinesiology offers a cross-disciplinary curriculum addressing human movement across the lifespan from sociocultural, biological/physical, behavioral, and humanistic perspectives. The department prepares graduates to apply kinesiological principles to motor skills, health promotion, and active lifestyles. The kinesiology major offers a Bachelor of Science with three concentrations: Exercise Science/pre-Physical Therapy; Interdisciplinary/pre-Occupational Therapy; and Lifetime Physical Activity. A Biomedical Engineering minor (with Engineering Sciences) is approved and will start January 2026. The department recruits a diverse student body and is committed to supporting historically underrepresented groups.

Primary teaching responsibility: Lifespan Motor Development. Additional teaching may include research methods, physical activity for diverse populations, aging and disability, health and wellness across the lifespan, foundations of kinesiology, personal fitness and wellness, and physical activity courses. The candidate may contribute to other courses or develop new courses within their area of specialization. Other responsibilities include developing a research program, writing grant proposals, advising students, department/committee service, and participating in professional organizations in kinesiology or related fields. Preference for developing a physical activity program for community-dwelling older adults.

Service credit depends on academic preparation and professional experience. Anticipated salary range: $84,004 to 89,779, depending on qualifications.
