AmeriCorps Expanded Learning Mentor – Full-Time Member (1200 hrs / 10 months) Stipend: $2,727.27/month | Service Term: Oct 2025–July 2026 Reports to: School Site Coordinator & EXL Program Coordinator Position Summary AmeriCorps EXL Mentors serve as positive role models supporting K–8 students in Santa Rosa schools. Mentors help students develop academic, social-emotional, and interpersonal skills through structured activities, tutoring, and mentoring. Each Member serves at one school site for the full year, supporting the school day and after-school program. Core Duties Active Recess: Facilitate games that teach teamwork, inclusion, and conflict resolution. Tutoring: Provide daily literacy/math support to students below grade level in small groups or 1-on-1. Mentoring: Guide students in weekly SEL-focused mentoring sessions. Expanded Learning: Support after-school programming (COOL School), Spring Break, and summer activities. Member Expectations Serve full-time (approx. 8am–6pm, Mon–Fri) with some evenings/weekends. Attend trainings, community service days, and professional development. Must live within commuting distance of school site. Qualifications 18+ years old (or 17 with parental consent) High school diploma or GED U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident Pass DOJ/FBI background checks and TB test Passion for working with youth, strong ethics, flexibility, and professionalism Benefits $2,727.27 monthly living stipend (taxable) Segal Education Award (taxable) Health benefits CalFresh eligibility $250 relocation stipend (if moving 250+ miles) Loan forbearance and interest repayment Career-building training and experience

Member Duties : AmeriCorps EXL is an exciting opportunity to be part of an ambitious team working towards closing the achievement gap to support learning for youth. Students are at the heart of our work. We are seeking proactive, adaptable, enthusiastic, and dedicated AmeriCorps EXL Mentors to support the academic and social skills development of students in local area schools of Santa Rosa, California. We partner with schools to identify students who would benefit from a positive, adult role model that can give targeted academic support in literacy and/or mathematics, as well as mentor students to be their most resilient selves. EXL Mentor also play a key role in leading Active Recess activities with students.
