Responsible for the technical analysis and development of interconnect solutions to complex design challenges in response to specific customer needs and/or in support of market driven product goals. Projects may include the development of new products & associated processes to support.
Markets served include Medical, Test & Measurement, Oil & Gas, Entertainment, Autonomous vehicles, Aeronautics and Military.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and validates advanced competitive, engineered interconnect solutions that satisfy specific customer needs and/or meet the requirements of defined market-driven products. Projects typically include designing connectors employing electrical, fiber optic and pneumatic contacts plus associated cable and harness assemblies, box builds, integration & testing of electronics in the interconnect solution.
  • Technical product design lead on project teams responsible for new product design related tasks including conceptual models, CAD modeling, BOM's, Technical Assumptions Requirements, DFMEA, Risk
  • Assessment, GD&T, Tolerance Analysis, stress & thermal FEA analysis, proof of concept, prototypes, assembly, test, and meeting cost targets.
  • Develops products from Investigation to Production Release following a Phased Gate process
  • Constructs and evaluates complex prototypes, including any required testing and analysis, in support of design verification and product validation to achieve performance requirements
  • Provides technical support of new product designs working with external supply chain partners.
  • Provides guidance to assembly teams on new designs and processes for custom connectors, up to and including specialized tooling.
  • Identifies, develops and validates new processes and CAPEX equipment to meet both internal and external customer requirements to expand value add capabilities & throughput using IQOQPQ methodologies.
  • Designs and conducts experiments, writes technical reports and/or papers to validate product performance against customers environmental and performance requirements.
  • Technical lead providing input into quality, test, and inspection plans
  • Proactively leads Design Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (DFMEA), through evaluation & risk mitigation and participates in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEA).
  • Technical lead facilitating communications, WBS, scheduling, and achievement of tasks in line with the project's quality, cost, and timing goals
  • Travel as needed
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSME preferred) or 20 years work experience in related industry accompanied by demonstrated success in a similar role
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years' relevant experience; preferred experience with small, precision-manufactured electro-mechanical products and electrical or fiber optic connectors
  • Demonstrable success as a technical project leader
  • Ability to apply mechanical engineering principles to create new product concepts, modifications to existing mechanical and electro-mechanical components or systems
  • Ability to initiate comprehensive and effective troubleshooting and problem analysis to root cause.
  • Ability to lead failure analysis and corrective action activities.
  • Familiarity with quality concepts / tools including but not limited to: Design / Process Failure Mode Analysis (FMEA), ISO 14971 Risk Management, Design for Manufacture (DFM), Statistical Process Control (SPC), IQOQPQ and 5S desired.
  • Lead or engage in effective and professional communications on both technical and non-technical matters
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods including injection molding, machining, adhesive bonding, harness assembly, and wire termination.
  • Experience using 3D CAD/CAE software, Autodesk Inventor® CAD software preferred for the creation and analysis of designs
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
