What You Will Typically Be Responsible For
- Providing leadership and technical assistance to the assigned team.
- Managing staff to meet set goals.
- Temporarily serving as Director of Environmental Health when unavailable.
- Interpreting and analyzing data to determine whether divisional actions meet intended goals.
- Effectively working with the director to accomplish division goals.
- Overseeing the development, improvement, and overall operations of multiple Environmental Health programs.
- Assisting in the development or revision of divisional policies and procedures.
- Representing the division in meetings with other agencies, elected officials, and the public.

Eligible list remains in effect for six (6) months.
Minimum Qualifications
- License Requirement: Possession of a valid certificate or registration as an Environmental Health Specialist issued by the State Department of Health Services; possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's license.
- Experience: Five years of full‑time experience as an Environmental Health Specialist, including at least two years of supervisory or management responsibility.
- Substitution: A master's degree in an accredited program may substitute one year of experience; no substitution for supervisory experience.
