Department Overview
The Coworkers of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary
The Electric Maintenance and Construction Supervisor Shift manages employees involved in maintaining and/or building parts of the Electric Operations distribution grid. Supervisors lead teams on projects within a specific division. They are expected to provide safe and reliable electric service while maintaining compliance with the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) General Orders, all safety regulations and other regulatory requirements. Supervisors fully implement safety best practices and manage employee accountability, ensuring compliance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program.

Compensation

  • Minimum: $128,000
  • Midpoint: $173,000
  • Maximum: $208,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Travel at least 20% of the time with occasional overnight stays. Ensure maintenance and construction work is completed on time, within budget, and meets quality expectations while monitoring compliance to standards and specifications.
  • Develop and/or execute action plans to address deficiencies in process or employee skill/knowledge and track progress of those plans. Provide current, direct, complete, and "actionable" positive and corrective feedback to others.
  • Build constructive and effective relationships using diplomacy and treat direct reports equitably. Complete and maintain all work documentation and reporting.
  • Effectively utilize resources by monitoring crew productivity. Identify and pursue productivity improvements and implement work practices to reduce operating costs while meeting corporate and regulatory compliance.
  • Review current work practices for operational efficiencies and deficiencies. Identify and react to complex field decisions, utilizing technical knowledge and experience to move forward quickly, considering cost, risk, safety, quality, and customer impact.
  • Ensure that customers' needs and expectations are met. Provide clear, professional, proactive communication with customers in a variety of field situations during the project while ensuring regulatory compliance and safety.
  • Facilitate and lead weekly team meetings/tailboards. Regularly visit field work sites to monitor progress and employee performance.
  • Develop and maintain regional contacts and interact with local government.
  • Proactively prepare for emergency situations and support company efforts during emergencies.
  • Supervise staff, including bargaining unit employees, to accomplish results through recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, and rewards and recognition.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing, construction, field maintenance operations, or related electric utility experience

Desired

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Achieved Journeyman level status via an IBEW approved Lineman apprenticeship
  • Experience as Troubleman, or related
  • Hands‑on technical skill and knowledge. Knowledge of PG&E restoration procedures. Knowledge of the types of materials and equipment required for outage restoration.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with a diverse workforce.
