The Business Advisory Manager is a key part of our team - In this role, you will oversee client financial operations, lead senior accountants, and serve as the primary point of contact for key client engagements. This role functions as a Controller-level advisor, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and high-quality client service across multiple winery businesses.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, confident in managing complex accounting environments, and skilled at communicating financial insights to clients and internal teams.

This role is for our firm located in Santa Rosa, called AWG Wine Advisors. AWG Wine Advisors is a specialized accounting and advisory firm dedicated exclusively to the wine industry. With decades of hands‑on winery finance experience, we blend industry‑specific expertise with high‑level technical accounting knowledge to support boutique and family‑run wineries.

What you will do:

  • Prepare or review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee bank reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Manage risk and insurance coordination for clients.
  • Review inventory cost accounting, including winery production and cost allocations.
  • Perform or review recurring financial deliverables for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining clear and consistent communication.
  • Provide advisory guidance and strategic insights aligned with client goals.
  • Act as a Controller-level resource, helping clients strengthen accounting systems and financial operations.
  • Supervise senior accountants and review work prepared by senior and staff-level team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and support to enhance performance.
  • Ensure deliverables meet AWG's standards for quality and accuracy.
  • Oversee the design, enhancement, and implementation of accounting systems and processes.
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and productivity.

What we look for:

  • 6+ years professional accounting experience with a strong background in financial reporting, cost accounting, and GAAP compliance.
  • Experience in the wine industry is required.
  • Skilled in inventory accounting (preferably winery-specific).
  • Superior accuracy and technical expertise, knowledge of client industries.
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, strong analytical skills.
  • Expert use of accounting software & systems, and ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive problem solving and project management.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • CPA preferred.
