Principal Systems/Test Engineer – Energetics & Propulsion (Onsite)
Collins Aerospace, Fairfield, CA (Mission Sys Propulsion Facility)
U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person required; U.S. Passport or permanent residency acceptable. No security clearance required.
Responsible for developing new energetic products, sustaining existing lines, and providing requirements and testing support within the Propulsion site. Will manage requirements, support design, test, failure investigations, and continuous improvement.
What You Will Do
- Review RFPs, evaluate feasibility, manage requirements with QBS.
- Participate in brainstorming for part design and new specification conditions.
- Manage requirements across the product life cycle using compliance matrix.
- Guide development and production hardware reviews.
- Model and analyze system/customer requirements.
- Lead and develop testing methods to qualify designs and verify requirements.
- Communicate technical information, recommendations, action plans, and risk assessments to customers.
- Lead or participate in failure investigations, create fault trees and root‑cause corrective actions.
- Coordinate with Project/Program Management to meet milestones, budgets, and performance expectations.
- Monitor and report project status to management and customers.
- Support continuous improvement activities.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 5 years' experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain ATF access.
- Experience as a Systems Engineer in the aerospace industry, directly working with hardware development or sustainment programs.

- Experience with energetic engineering.
- Experience with requirements management tools such as Jama, DOORS.
- Graduate degrees in Systems, Mechanical, Aerospace, or Electrical engineering.
- Experience with modeling and analysis of complex engineering problems.
- Experience reviewing and managing technical requirements on complex systems.
- Experience running failure investigations and creating fault trees.
- Experience creating test plans from engineering requirements, executing tests, and verifying requirements.
- Strong decision making, prioritization, and administrative abilities.
- Strong continuous improvement skills and customer focus.
- Systems Engineering certifications a plus.
- Experience with Cameo and Model-Based Simulation a plus.
