Position Description

SUMMARY

Successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and participate in random drug screening per our Drug Free Workplace Policy. Successful applicants will be subject to an administrative criminal background check.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs and/or oversees the shipping/receiving process, i.e. checks in materials (receipt), delivers it to storage areas, resolves errors in fabrication/counts, schedules receipts (shipping and receiving calendar), and prepares shipping loads (lists, weights, materials).

• Keeps and verifies records on all incoming and outgoing shipments with regard to inventory counts.

• Prepares all shipments to insure timely deliveries to our plant, jobsite, and customers within budgeted cost.

• Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measurements of item shipments incoming and outgoing to verify information against Bills of Lading, invoices, orders, or other records.

• Determines method of shipment when not already established with consideration given to budget and timing. Must be persuasive since BMI often sets its own shipping cost for companies to work within.

• Unloads and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.

• Ensures all materials are placed and stored in the proper locations.

• Coordinates interdepartmental communication and production.

• Serves as a liaison between employees and management and resolves problems and difficulties as they arise.

• Ensures the availability and proper use of all material.

• Performs other project activities, filling in where and when necessary to maintain schedules.

• Performs all operations and operates equipment and machinery in a knowledgeable, effective, and safe manner.

• Demonstrates and applies safety rules and techniques.

• Performs quality control functions to ensure that the work of employees meets quality standards, to ensure that finished products meet all blueprint specifications and to ensure that proper work methods and techniques are being followed.

• Resolves difficulties in the production processes.

• Completes and maintains all appropriate records and reports. Maintains records in an accurate, organized manner.

• Checks necessary materials and hardware, including bolts, washers, rods, lumber, and necessary hand tools.

• Checks and inspects floats to ensure that there are no major cracks or flows and to ensure that floats and hardware materials are assembled appropriately.

• Verifies materials are properly identified, taken off (counts), fabricated, and ordered (purchase order tracking per project).

• Verifies there is timelines on receipts and performs back-up calling to ensure timeliness of vendors.

• Pursues methods and corrections of defects in weldments, lumber, hardware, and accessories.

• Checks plans/drawings/contract drawings against BMI drawings for completeness.

• Ensures tools are available for all projects and coordinates repairs and purchases as required. Tracks all tools, i.e. shop or to jobsite.

• Reviews size of crews, proper crew mix, and cost of crews (day vs. project schedule/budget) for project labor.

• Monitors production, i.e., float casting/stripping, foam, subassembly, and any additional.

• Time Allocation - approximately 70% to projects and 30% to shipping/receiving.

• Work area varies within plant and/or jobsite as determined by task being performed.

• Performs monthly inventory counts and verifies completeness with Operations.

• Performs economic order process and assists Operations on re-order of stock materials.

• Assists, as directed, in purchasing of goods and materials for BMI projects.

• Performs inspections of BMI facilities to ensure various permit requirements.

• Maintains, schedules and logs services on BMI plant equipment.

• Documents and reports to the Operations and General Manager the condition of BMI plant facilities. Further assists in scheduling and budgeting for repairs and maintenance.

• May supervise 1-3 Employees as needed for loading and shipping operations as needed.

• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
