Position Summary:

The Traffic Control Flagger is crucial for ensuring safe traffic flow around construction sites, road maintenance areas, and other work zones. Your responsibilities will include setting up and taking down traffic control signs, cones, and barricades to protect both workers and the public. Using hand signals, signs, and various traffic control devices, you will guide motorists safely through or around the work area. This role demands excellent attention to detail, the ability to work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, and the endurance to stand for extended periods.

Essential Functions:

• Set up signs, cones, and other traffic control devices to divert traffic in work areas.
• Manage traffic flow effectively using stop/slow paddles.
• Maintain clear communication with team members via two-way radios.
• Stand and walk for up to 10 hours daily while reaching with hands and arms.
• Lift, carry, push, pull, and move items over 50 pounds.
• Drive company vehicles to transport traffic control equipment to and from job sites.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure their proper condition.
• Work in various outdoor weather conditions and near moving traffic, equipment, and machinery.
• Adhere to all Company Policies and Procedures, with a commitment to safety.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

• Valid Driver's License.
• Clear background check, including motor vehicle records.
• Successful completion of a drug test and adherence to federal DOT requirements.
• Wear appropriate safety equipment (work boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, and safety vest).
• Ability to operate a 2-way radio.
• Willingness to work in various weather conditions and traffic settings.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with contractors and internal teams, ensuring excellent customer service.
• Strong teamwork ability.
• Exemplary attendance, reliable transportation, and a strong work ethic.
• Must complete the ATSSA Flagger training course and company-sponsored Defensive Driver training.
• Flexibility to travel statewide and work nights and weekends as project demands require.
• Availability for a rotating on-call schedule.
• Comfort working in proximity to schools and children when necessary.
