Northbay Recruiter is partnering with an esteemed luxury estate in search of an accounting professional with progressive track record to step into the position of Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of winery accounting and operations, with the proven ability to perform within a boutique winery environment. This role will be responsible for timely financial reporting, managing the GL, inventory and COGS in addition to overseeing a small team. As a forward thinker, the Assistant Controller will be instrumental in identifying areas of improvement and making recommendations to senior leadership. An understanding of systems and ability to lead implementations is also critical for the success of this position.

Overview of Duties:

• Oversee & perform recurring accounting functions & GL maintenance for multiple entities.
• Manage month end close process, prepare and review financial statements for accuracy
• Conduct detailed analysis of accounts to identify variances, trends, and key indicators
• Collaborate with department managers to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making.
• Analyze financial data and build custom reporting tools as needed to support forward planning initiatives.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
• Minimum 5+ years accounting experience in a winery environment, in addition to 2+ years public accounting highly preferred.
• Management experience required.
• Strong technical capability to navigate industry specific software in addition to advanced level Excel proficiency.

Salary: 125,000-145,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Offering excellent benefits including 401k + match, generous PTO, full suite of Medical/Dental/Vision.
