Core Components Structural Analyst

Description:

We are assisting our confidential client with the search for a highly motivated and resourceful Structural Analyst to support mechanical performance evaluations for advanced nuclear technologies. In this role, you will focus on analyzing complex core components operating under extreme conditions,including high temperatures and elevated neutron fluence.

Location: Bellevue, WA/Remote
Length of Assignment: 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Perform stress analysis for Core Assemblies using FEA and hand calculations.
  • Present analysis results to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Interface with the Core Component Design team's engineering design activities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary Engineering and Project Teams on requirements and inputs.
  • Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify process change/enhancement opportunities.
  • Perform peer review to maintain the expected quality standard as per the engineering quality assurance plan.
  • Work as a technical point of contact for various focus tasks.
Key Qualifications

  • B.S, M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university. Aerospace, Nuclear, and Civil Engineering degrees are also considered.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of related experience with a B.S. degree, or 2+ years with an M.S. degree, or 0+ years with Ph.D. degree.
  • Proficient in finite element stress analysis, mechanical analysis methods and commercial mechanical stress analysis and modeling tools with emphasis on ANSYS and SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of solid mechanics, fracture mechanics, and fatigue failure.
  • Candidates should have demonstrated experience in structural analysis, buckling analysis, thermal analysis, and/or creep fatigue / inelastic analysis.
  • Familiarity working under stringent quality assurance requirements such as ASME NQA-1, MIL-Q-9858A, or ISO-9000.
  • Working experience with pressure equipment design codes and standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, Div. 1 and 5, Section VIII Div. 2, and API 579-1.
  • Experienced with conceptual design and sizing for equipment and structural components through basic calculation and utilizing Mathcad.
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative teamwork is highly desired.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect and a desire to foster teamwork.

Estimated Compensation Range:$52-$85.00 per hour. All experience levels considered.
