Sales Representative

Description:

The Outside Salesperson will sell products and services offered by the company to new customers, as well as build consultative relationships with customers to retain long term business partnerships. Responsible for driving revenue growth through new business development and expanding on existing customer base. The outside salesperson will work independently with external customers, prospects & vendors, and work internally with the sales support staff, purchasing, operations and management.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to exceed revenue targets
  • Demonstrates the functions and utility of products or services to customers.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and previous customers, alerting them to new products and services by upselling and cross-selling opportunities
  • Maintains detailed reports on sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
  • Proven ability to work independently while proactively engaging both new and existing clients during in-person sales calls.
  • Build a robust pipeline of qualified prospects
  • Stay informed on industry trends and market conditions
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Book of business, track record of exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams
  • Proven record of increased sales and new business accounts
  • Must have a current, valid driver's license.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Sage 100 ERP system or ability to learn system.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Sales, Business, or related field preferred
  • At least five years of related experience preferred.

Supervisory Experience

  • No regular supervisory responsibilities
  • Occasional training of new salespeople

Work Environment

This position operates in a hybrid office environment, traveling locally three days a week. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, plus selling materials and product samples.

Physical Demands

Daily travel to customer locations. Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times. Must be able to navigate throughout the office building as well as customer facilities.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekend or longer hours may be required based on business needs.
