The Production Forklift Driver is responsible for supporting fast-paced production lines by ensuring each line is continuously supplied with raw materials to meet daily case count targets. This role plays a key part in minimizing downtime by promptly staging materials, removing empty pallets, wrapping finished goods, and maintaining smooth product flow. Drivers are assigned to different lines as determined by production supervisors and must be flexible and responsive to shifting priorities. The role also requires accurate use of RF scanners to ensure real-time system updates and inventory accuracy. This position is essential to maintaining efficiency, safety, and productivity within Saxco's production environment.
Compliance with company policies and safety standards: Ensure adherence to the company's guidelines and OSHA safety regulations to maintain a secure working environment.
Perform routine checks on equipment and safety measures in accordance with OSHA standards to prevent accidents and ensure proper functioning.
Operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently while meeting productivity and quality standards.
Clear empty pallets, slips sheets, and other debris from the production floor to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Properly wrap completed pallets of finished goods and stage them in destinated areas for warehouse outbound.
Work on different lines as directed by production supervisors, adapting quickly to changes in production needs and priorities.
Communicate effectively with line leads, supervisors, and other forklift drivers to ensure a smooth and coordinated workflow.
Verify product information to maintain accurate inventory records and prevent discrepancies.
Keep warehouse spaces and trailers clean by regularly sweeping and tidying up, ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
Prioritize safety by upholding a secure work atmosphere by wearing seat belts, driving at appropriate speeds, wearing proper PPE, and adhering to other safety precautions.
Assist warehouse during downtime.
Skills and qualifications required:
35 years of distribution center and production experience required; 7+ years preferred
Certified in forklift operation in compliance with OSHA standards
Experience using RF guns or handheld scanners to track inventory and ensure real-time system updates
Proficient in basic math, reading, and communication to follow written instructions and complete documentation
Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate inventory tracking and material handling
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to support continuous production flow
Flexible and adaptable to support multiple lines and adjust to shifting priorities as directed by supervisors
Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude when working with cross-functional teams
Comfortable following equipment operating procedures and safety protocols consistently
Education/training required:
High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college
