Chief of Staff

  2026-04-15     Strativ Group     Santa Rosa,CA
Description:

?? Chief of Staff (AI4DrugDiscovery)

?? Remote US (Strong SF Preference)

?? Comp: Market leading + Equity

Our client is a Tier 1 VC-Backed start-up committed to transforming the way drug discovery is done, making the process faster and more effective. Developing new molecules that are safe, effective, and work well in the human body requires chemists to combine vast amounts of data, deep expertise, and intuition — a process that can be slow, costly and highly complex. Patients often bear the cost of these delays.

This team of the industry's best researchers, scientists and engineers have created a proven collaborative and user-friendly AI platform that streamlines and accelerates the drug discovery journey. Following a huge fundraise and 9-figure partnerships with top 10 pharma, the CEO is looking for a right hand man/woman to maximize effectiveness by driving key initiatives, managing cross-functional teams, and facilitating communication.

What You'll Be Doing:

Strategic Operations & Executive Enablement

  • Partner directly with the CEO to shape company strategy, operating priorities, and execution cadence.
  • Act as a trusted thought partner in translating the company's scientific and commercial vision into clear, actionable goals across the organization.
  • Support the CEO in prioritization, communications, and time allocation to ensure focus on the highest-leverage initiatives across science, product, partnerships, and fundraising.

Leadership Team Coordination

  • Own the Senior Leadership Team operating cadence: planning and facilitating meetings, tracking decisions, and ensuring alignment across scientific, technical, and business priorities.
  • Create and maintain scalable systems that improve visibility, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration as the company grows.
  • Drive follow-through on commitments and action items from leadership meetings, ensuring priorities move from discussion to execution.

Board and Investor Management

  • Lead preparation for board meetings, investor updates, and other strategic communications.
  • Coordinate input across science, operations, and business functions to ensure materials are rigorous, data-driven, and aligned with long-term company goals.
  • Manage board follow-ups and ensure accountability for post-meeting actions and decisions.

Special Projects and Strategic Initiatives

  • Own high-impact, cross-functional initiatives that do not neatly fit within existing functions, spanning areas such as fundraising, partnerships, platform strategy, hiring, and operating infrastructure.
  • Build business cases and conduct strategic analyses to inform executive decision-making.
  • Help assess and operationalize initiatives that support progress from protein design breakthroughs to real-world applications and commercial impact.

Who You Are and What You Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, strategy, operations, biotech, deep tech, or Chief of Staff-type roles in a high-growth company; experience in AI, biotech, or scientific startups strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects end-to-end, from problem definition through execution.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; experience crafting materials for senior leadership and board audiences.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen; ability to translate technical, scientific, and commercial insights into strategic recommendations.
  • High EQ and strong interpersonal skills; comfortable influencing senior stakeholders and facilitating alignment across functions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities shift quickly.
  • Comfort working closely with highly technical teams and learning enough about drug discovery, protein design, machine learning, and life sciences to operate effectively as a strategic partner.

About us:

We believe that our people are what make us great. We offer competitive salary and equity-based compensation; comprehensive healthcare benefits (including dental and vision); and the opportunity to grow alongside a rapidly scaling company. We are a passionate, kind, and mature team. While working at a fast-growing start-up may not always be a strict 9–5, we encourage and support full lives beyond work.
