Description:

Chief Scientific Officer

We are looking for a Chief Scientific Officer with a PhD in a hard experimental science, ideally paired with meaningful leadership in platform-based discovery or data-rich R&D. The strongest candidates will come from one of the following backgrounds:

  • Molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics, with deep experience in assay development, screening, and iterative experimentation.
  • Biochemistry, protein science, or chemical biology, especially where the work involved high-throughput workflows, mechanistic discovery, or platform assay design.
  • Synthetic biology or bioengineering, with a track record of building reusable experimental systems and translating scientific ideas into scalable research programs.
  • Medicinal chemistry or related discovery chemistry, particularly where the candidate has worked closely with biology, artificial intelligence and computation in a discovery setting.
  • Computational biology or systems biology, but only if paired with substantial wet-lab leadership and direct ownership of experimental strategy.

The ideal candidate will have led complex, data-rich experimental programs rather than purely theoretical or purely computational work. They should be comfortable building scientific systems that combine experimentation, automation, and analysis, and they should have experience creating the kind of repeatable research engine that can support long-term platform growth.

The right person will likely have:

  • Designed or led high-throughput experimental workflows.
  • Built cross-functional teams across biology, chemistry, and computation.
  • Taken scientific ideas from exploratory stage into structured, scalable programs.
  • Worked in environments where data quality, reproducibility, and throughput were central to success.
  • Developed experimental approaches that improved over time through feedback loops and iteration.
