Job Summary: The Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) will provide basic behavioural and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth in a correctional setting. Minimum Qualifications: 24 continuous months of recent experience in a public or private institution (within the last 3 years). Internships not accepted. Active and valid California license from the Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technicians. Must read, write, and speak English fluently. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association. Key Responsibilities: Provide psychiatric nursing care and behavioural support to patients/youth. Perform daily rounds and monitor individuals with mental illness symptoms. Administer prescribed medications and treatments, including injections. Record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration. Support the development of treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Lead or assist in individual and group therapy sessions. Coordinate clinical appointments and ensure patient attendance. Act as liaison with custody staff to manage behavioural issues. Respond to emergencies with CPR and first aid support. Maintain accurate and timely documentation per facility requirements. Contribute to a safe and therapeutic environment.
