Dental Assistant - Napa CountyPosted: 30+ days ago (Requisition ID: 2371)Location: South Napa Campus and North Napa CampusSchedule: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pmSalary Range: $26.16 to $31.98 per hour, depending on experience.Job Summary / OverviewThe Dental Assistant (DA) will provide quality patient care by assisting dentists and staff with patient care, office, and laboratory duties. The DA supports efficient patient flow through timely, accurate, and professional interactions, assisting in all dental procedures, taking x‑rays, sterilizing instruments, and preparing tray setups.Travel between sites may be required.BenefitsEmployer covers 90% of employee medical, dental, and vision premium and 50% of dependent premium18 days of PTO (Vacation & Sick)10 paid holidays plus 1 float holiday2% employer match with 4% employee contribution to 403(b) retirement planTuition reimbursement up to $2,000 per calendar year for full‑time and part‑time employees (prorated per FTE)Life & accidental insurance coverageEmployer contribution to Health Savings AccountFlexible Spending Account (FSA) and Limited FSA optionsMinimum Position Requirements – Education, Experience, Skills / TrainingEducation: High school diploma or GED required; one‑year certificate from college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience: Previous dental assistant or related experience preferred.Communication: Strong verbal and written skills.Customer service: Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Computer: Proficiency with Microsoft Office.Electronic health record system experience.Certification: Current CPR certification required.Proof of completion of board‑approved radiation safety, California Dental Practice Act, and 8‑hour infection control course.Driver's license required.Travel flexibility between sites.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform all phases of four‑handed dental assisting duties for preventive, restorative, endodontics, oral surgery, pedodontics, and prosthodontic procedures for all ages.Carry out all permitted duties of a Dental Assistant as delegated by the dentist and allowed by applicable regulations.Use appropriate PPE during sterilization, maintaining the clean‑to‑dirty flow to prevent contamination.Escort patients to the dental chair and prepare them for treatment, ensuring excellent customer service.Prepare tray sets for procedures and follow rooming workflows accurately and efficiently.Operate dental radiography equipment to obtain diagnostic oral radiographs per provider recommendation, complying with regulations.Collect medical and dental histories, introral/extraoral photography, and study models as needed.Takes intraoral impressions for all non‑prosthodontic appliances.Place and remove rubber dams or other isolation devices under supervision.Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions, preventive dental education, and post‑op instructions under supervision.Support incoming and outgoing lab cases with accurate documentation to ensure effective patient flow.Clean, sterilize, and disinfect operatory instruments per policy and OSHA guidelines; transport dirty instruments safely to the sterilization area.Follow universal precautions and hazardous materials standards per OSHA guidelines.Assist in dental charting and documentation in the electronic medical record directed by the dentist.Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.Ensure operatories are adequately stocked; complete inventory of supplies and notify supervisor of low inventory; check expiration dates of materials regularly.Monitor and operate dental equipment, reporting issues or troubleshooting as needed.Perform daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance.Recognize and perform duties independently when no direct assignment is given; prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.Observe all health center and department conduct policies while at work.Attend and participate in required meetings, trainings, and educational programs.Equal Opportunity StatementCommuniCare+OLE encourages people of all backgrounds to apply, including but not limited to Black, Indigenous Peoples, people of color, immigrants, refugees, women, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, veterans, individuals of all ages and religions, and individuals who have been affected by the legal system.
