Not only do they perform all kitchen and food prep duties, but they also provide valuable life skills and job training to Marin County Jail incarcerated persons. Under general supervision, the incumbent in this position will prepare, cook and serve food in the Marin County Jail; clean equipment and maintain health and safety regulations in the kitchen facilities; and direct kitchen incarcerated person workers in food preparation service and cleanup activities. The current position requires work on assigned shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. There is currently one (1) full time regular hire vacancy within the Marin County Sheriff's Office. ABOUT YOU: Our Highly Qualified Candidate: The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of the procedures and equipment required to prepare and serve a high volume of meals in an institutional setting and of the necessary safety and sanitation procedures related to the preparation and storage of food in a high volume setting. In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience following menus and recipes and coordinating food preparation to ensure that food is ready at established times. The ideal candidate must also have the ability to supervise and work with incarcerated persons in the jail. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Any combination of education and experience that would provide the knowledge and skills listed below. Typically, equivalent to one (1) year of food preparation, service and clean up in a large institutional or similar volume setting.
