Job Purpose: Under the supervision of the Nursing Manager, the Medical Scribe II / Certified Medical Assistant will be responsible for the primary duties of medical scribing and medical assisting. This person will assist the provider during the patient visits by manually entering appropriate information as dictated by the provider into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). They will be responsible to capture all accurate and detailed documentation of the patient’s visit in a timely manner.  This person is also an active member of the “care team” and is responsible for assisting patients throughout the routine office visit and helping their assigned patient panel with health management. They will work with the medical staff as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive, quality and accessible health care services to the communities of Sonoma County Indian Health Project, Inc. (SCIHP). SCIHP is dedicated to wellness, compassion, affordability, and excellence of care. 

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED) with 6 months - 1 of year experience minimum as a medical assistant /medical scribe
• Must Possess a California Medical Assistant certification.
• Obtain Medical Scribe Certification and Aptitude test (MSCAT) certification after 200 hours on the clinic floor (desired)
• Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology Coursework.
• Ability to type 45-60 WPM
• Strong patient service and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team/pod environment required.
• Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background investigation
• Must have proof of completed COVID 19 vaccinations, booster and annual Flu vaccine.

Special Qualifications: Must be sensitive to the needs of the Native American Community, which includes culture traditions, and background.
